Lilit Karapetyan, junior partner of Concern Dialog, co-lead a course on theoretical and practical aspects of commercial arbitration law students of the summer school

Lilit Karapetyan, junior partner of Concern Dialog and member of the RA Arbitrators’ Association, co-lead a course on Theoretical and Practical aspects of commercial arbitration within Arbitration summer school organized for law students of Armenian universities with Ms Aida Avanessian, Chairman of the board of the same association.

Lilit Karapetyan, presented the nuances of the arbitration proceedings, steps to be taken within each stage thereof and highlighted the significant aspects of appointment of arbitrators, commencing arbitration and handling the process.

A separate reference was also made to the role of the court and the tools of assistance granted to the court before, during and after arbitration proceedings.

Law students were introduced to the nuances of writing an arbitration award, following which the participants were divided into groups and with the help of the leading professors drafted a notice of arbitration, response and award.

At the end of the day, the participants conducted a mock arbitration on the case provided the previous day. At the end of the proceeding, the selected tribunal wrote the arbitral award. Thus, the students got the chance to learn both the theoretical and practical aspects of arbitral proceedings.

It should be noted that Summer School on Arbitration started in Tsaghkadzor, which was held by the Arbitrators’ Association of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with the Council of Europe for 20 students of law faculties of Armenian higher educational institutions. The Summer School was implemented within the framework of the "Support to the judicial reform: enhancing the independence and professionalism of the judiciary in Armenia" program, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe within the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance (PGG II) project.

The goal of the Arbitrators’ Association of the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe is to promote the development of knowledge and practical skills on arbitration among the law students of Yerevan and the regions of Armenia through the Summer School.
